35mm

These photos were taken with the 1968 Pentax Camera my dad gave me.

The top photo and the bottom two were taken on the same beach in Santa Cruz exactly one year apart, back when I had long hair. (Photos from last 4th of July in Santa Cruz can be seen here.) And the only reason it took us an entire year to finish the roll of film was because our camera was held hostage by friends (or forgotten every time we got together) for far too long. It is the same lens that I am using with my digital (35mm, 1.4) and it takes such beautiful images. I plan on using it a whole lot more now that we have it back. More photos from Santa Cruz coming soon.

We recently got a roll of film developed that had some shots from our honeymoon. Photos we took along the Kalaulau trail on Kauai and photos of one another after hiking the two miles to Kanakapiai Beach. I love all the sun spots.

Before poppies we had tulips, briefly.

I love this one of Jeffery and me at his birthday BBQ in Golden Gate Park. I love how film is more of a time capsule and you get to be surprised by it (especially when it takes six months to use up a roll). I should really shoot with more film.

The last time I visited my parents was two years ago.

These are my favorite photos from the trip.

It was back when my hair was short and the pets were little. It was before I moved abroad and before Jeffery and I spent seven months apart and before we started planning the wedding. It was before we had been to London or Milan or Dublin or Edinburgh or Amsterdam or Montpellier. It was before we moved back to San Francisco and before I started working in the Castro. It was before I finished my degree and it was before Jeff decided to go back to school.

We have 8 rolls of film packed and ready to go. This time next week we'll be waking up to roosters crowing. And the sun will rise up over the ocean and we'll have omelets for breakfast.
