Last July—which feels like a lifetime ago—Sarah and Zack introduced me to Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park. The place was a dream, and this couple is so rad. I cannot wait to photograph their Nevada City wedding this June!

N & M // San Francisco Engagement // Bernal Heights
N & M’s Bernal Heights neighborhood was the perfect backdrop for this sunset engagement session. I love how the colors came together, and I love how comfortable these two are in each other’s arms.

Danny and Allison eloped in the Marin Headlands in November. It was right after the Northern California wildfires destroyed the town of Paradise, and the Bay Area was shrouded by a thick cloud of smoke.

Sometimes it turns out even better than you imagined. I look forward to documenting Celeste and Michael's Sacramento wedding this spring, it's going to be a good one.

Naomi is one of the most compassionate and driven people I know. She and I grew up in the same small town and became close as teenagers when we were both active in our high school's Peer Counseling program. We drifted apart after undergrad, but I continued admiring her from a distance. Naomi and her fiancé, David, moved to Chicago after grad school. I was beyond excited when I received her email last summer asking me to photograph their California wedding this September.

The afternoon I photographed Matt and Laura was a dream. They suggested we do the shoot at Goldeneye Winery, and it could not have been more beautiful. The sun sets early and fast in the middle of November, and so we had a short window of good light. The reflections in the pond, the fall colors, the vineyard up the hillside. I love Anderson Valley, and I love photographing people who know how to have fun.

I envisioned these photos for months before we took them. And of course they turned out more beautiful than I could have imagined. They always do.

We could not have asked for a more perfect fall day. Jack London State Historic Park is gorgeous. When Michelle and I started talking about an engagement session, she knew exactly where she wanted to do it. It was my first time visiting the park I was a little overwhelmed. It just kept getting better.

Kalin and I have been friends since middle school. We both played dwarves in a Willits Young Actors Theater production of The Hobbit. During production he dated my friend Amber (who played Bilbo Baggins). In high school we were both active in our school's Peer Counseling program and there were a few memorable Halloween parties in his honor (his birthday being the 1st of November). So there's a bit of history there. We have also maintained relationships with multiple mutual friends and we have stayed in touch over the years.

These two at Rodeo Beach. First we broke the rules and climbed up the cliff face. I had never been there before, but the California coast does not disappoint. What you can't tell from the photos is how cold and windy it was. Chelsie was a champ, laughing off the cold. And then she took her shoes off! I don't know if I've ever felt more envigorated during a photo shoot.
